2 Peter 2c For Those Who Lead Astray

Description
2 Peter 2:12-17 Welcome to another hard message from 2nd Peter. Today we will be talking about pseudo-salvation. And those who lead others into false beliefs and teachings about spiritual matters of which they know very little. I hope you listen closely to Martin Luther's quote from a sermon in 1531 concerning standing against false doctrine and those who would lead you away from a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and total trust in the Word of God. As we go through today's verses there are huge lessons to learn and to realize that hell is the blackness of darkness forever. I quickly go over 7 different kinds of false sinful people and teachers that you will know what to watch out for. 56min
Acts 6a Knowledge Understanding & Wisdom

Description
Proverbs Chapter 8 This is going to have to be studied on your own at the feet of Jesus to understand it fully! In Luke chapter 6 & 7 we see the beginnings of the world coming against the Church that is just forming & we see the scene of the first martyr Stephen. How could these early followers of Jesus be willing to come against these evil powers? In Body Life we saw a powerful prayer expressed on April 29 2015 in our Nations Capital - that we must come back to God or suffer the consequences of our sin, so now we continue on with the idea that it is about KNOWING God's truth, knowledge of Him & His ways, understanding God, & having God's wisdom in our heads that is needed for survival. Then we like Stephen, can stand & speak what God is saying to us and the world. 23min
John 7d "Advent" History & Meaning
Loading the player...
Description
In light of the season we are in - I thought it would be good to explain a little about the history and meaning of the four Sundays or weeks before Christmas. Commonly known as Advent. Some denominations or churches make quite a big deal out of this "Advent Season". Is that right or wrong? Why should we even consider this practice that goes back to roughly 300 A.D. ? I'm praying that this teaching will be meaningful because it all centers on Jesus Christ and God's promises to mankind. In thinking about Christ's "first coming" as the promised Messiah there is also Christ's "second coming" that we must be anticipating. These two comings are at the very core of Advent. So I hope you enjoy finding out about the five candles representing (1) "Hope" or promise candle & the prophecies foretold - past, present, and future (2) the preparation and expectant waiting or the "Faith" candle (3) the "Joy" candle or shepherds candle when the Messiah was actually born in Bethlehem (4) the "Love" candle or adoration candle when we are declared part of the family of God (5) and in the center most important of all "The Christ" candle - for HE is truly the light of the world. 32min

Description
Acts 2:40-47 In these few verses we learn a lot about what the Church is, and is to do. With 4 main points of what we are called to do individually, we also learn what the 4 main points that the Church is to continuously DO. The NEW Covenant that Jesus taught us totally changes the rules of doing "Church" (Temple)and following Christ's lead. John 13:34-35 & Matthew 22:34-40 gives us the new direction in which we are now to go. The old Mosaic Law is passed & now under the influence and guidance of the Holy Spirit the "New Body of Christ" is to carry on Jesus work unto all the world. Unity and Fellowship seem to be key words along with doctrine, the breaking of bread, and prayer. 41min

Mark 1:14-20 Haaa at last back to verse by verse! And trying to tell the sense of it all to you (Neh 8:8). Today we are going to look at a number of different scriptures to give the background of why "the church" was so upset with Jesus. From the get-go He was saying "I am the Messiah, I AM the I AM, the Law can't save you, now the Kingdom of God (heaven) is revealed - and you must Repent & Believe THIS GOSPEL (good news), for it is all about a change in your heart!" And then He picks His first 4 disciples to spread the message! The application is "What is Jesus calling YOU to do?" and "What will it COST you?" 40min
Matthew 12b Healing & Casting Out
Pastor Nelson
Matthew 12:15-30
Loading the player...
Description
Matthew 12:15-30 In our teaching this week, there is going to be quite a bit of emphasis on the workings of the Holy Spirit. As Jesus healed the sick and cast out demons the religious leaders of the day refused to recognize the power of God. They even accused Jesus of working on the power of Satan. As our days grow darker under the influence of evil we must all (as Christ followers) learn more about how the Holy Spirit works and to hear that still small voice of God's love and compassion toward mankind. Included are eight scriptures from Matthew on what the Holy Spirit is and does. There is no neutral ground, either we are on God's side in this spiritual war or we are part of the devils company who will be judged and condemned forever. 57min

We see that the grace of God is for everyone and that a heart knowledge of who Jesus is surpasses ethnic barriers. We also see instead of man reaching out to God that Jesus reaches out to us in the middle of our pain & loss. 29min

Description
John 18:15-40 We have lots to cover today. In understanding the six trials of Jesus; three Roman and three Jewish, there is much to be learned and studied. I will be hitting some of the high points but hopefully you will take the two handouts that I have now given you and study the different Scriptures concerning the culmination of Jesus' life. There are so many minute details that relate to the Old Testament as well as the things that have already happened in the New Testament that there is not time to go into them all. I pray that as you study the four Gospels and other related Scriptures that the Holy Spirit will lay on your heart that this period of Jesus life will become an inspiration and encouragement to you. Understanding Jesus love for Peter, even though he has messed up repeatedly is such a wonderful promise to how our God loves us also. But why did this innocent man (Jesus) have to die? We need to understand it was God's plan from before the beginning of time, because man needs a Savior. 48min.

Today's lesson is a summary of some of the things we have already learned in Romans. I know for a fact, if you are like me,, it is hard to remember the sermons that have been long past. Maybe, there is a pointer or two that you do remember, but there is one big overpowering concept that needs to be recalled at this point in time. It has to do with God's GRACE and what we understand about it, and what we do with it. Prayerfully today the lesson will help you to reflect personally on how God's grace has impacted your life. We all need to have gratitude, and amazement about how God loves us. Just maybe, this teaching today, will help you reflect on God's love for YOU! 53min

Description
Mark 9:14-29 Can a believer have doubts - absolutely! Does God ever get frustrated with us? Is there anything we can do to help our faith? Why is it important to ask God for help? Unbelief has no power. Our power failure is directly linked with our prayer failure. Lots of different Bible verses today! Some big lessons in Jesus healing the deaf-mute boy and casting out the evil spirit. We fail for exactly the same reasons the disciples failed in this simple task. We need to recognize the power of God is not limited by our circumstances. We need to pray like the boys father, "Lord I believe; help my unbelief!" 47min

2 Peter + Luke21 ***WHAT'S COMING*** today as God sometimes does, the sermon has been changed because HE wants his people to know what is happening in the world right now. We may not want to hear it, we may not want to accept it, but we are living in the last generation. And there is a very important concept that God wants you to learn and use on a daily basis. That is "ASK"! We must have courage, strength, and faith in order to be more than survivors in these troubling times. I pray you will go back and restudy some of these Scriptures for yourselves, and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you personally. 59min

Description
Luke 18:1-17 Happy New Year! Well, the Lord is given us another year to try and get it right. In this day and age above all things we need to be in the word of God and in communication with God. But most people don't understand prayer. Prayer does three things for us, it builds our faith, it multiplies our hope, and it magnifies the love of God toward us. If you don't know how to pray effectively and with confidence what does that tell you about your walk with God? Isn't Christianity supposed to be more of a relationship instead of a religion? Do you have the faith and the confidence of a little child? In my hand out today, there are all sorts of prayers and ways of praying; but the main point is God hears them all if you are his child. So pray always, pray constantly, and pray knowing that God hears your prayers. 43min

They had trials and frustrations that have always been common to man. So if we listen to Jesus's words and realize this is what God would like us to learn and follow it will be a very profitable time for all of us. Description
John 1:39-51 As we read how Jesus gets his first 5 disciples, there are some interesting lessons to be learned. However, we are going to start today's lesson with week 25 and 26 Bible verses. Jude 24 & 25, and 1John 4:9-10. In looking at our 52 Bible verses for the year, sometimes these fall in line with our Scripture studies in the Gospel of John and sometimes they don't. But I do believe they have value in our growth. Anyway, there are some subtle lessons from John's Gospel that we need to pick up today. The big question for the day is: who do you think Jesus is? How closely are you following him? Is your relationship with Him a first priority in life? In this day and age it is hard to imagine these 5 men dropped everything to follow Jesus immediately. Jesus is still saying "come, follow me - you will see greater things than these". Are you willing? 39min PS I have a fantastic, thought-provoking, 7 page article on how amazing & transforming God's GRACE is. Matthew 26:69-75 In these few verses there is a lot to be learned. Jesus made a way for us to have second third and fourth chances when we fail. Peter's failure in denying Jesus three times is a good lesson for us today because we do the same thing. There are some definite does, and don'ts, that we must learn if we are going to stay in a good relationship with our Savior. I pray you will write down some of the many Scriptures that I'm going to just read to you, so that you can look them up later. We need to learn about pride, and gut wrenching repentance, and how God has provided for us forgiveness, and a way back to be in full fellowship with Him.We must never fight these spiritual battles on our own. 48min
Matthew 4a Lessons about Temptation
Pastor Nelson
Matthew 4:1-11

Description
Matthew 4:1-11 Today's lesson is concerning the subject that we all know about but rarely study - "Temptation". We all need to have an understanding of how Satan is working in the world and in our lives every day. Jesus temptation in the wilderness is an excellent study in that Jesus proved his humanity, proved his faithfulness, provided a role model, and fulfilled prophecy. First we go to Genesis 3:1-6 to see how Satan works every time. Next we turn to Isaiah 14:12-17 and then to 1John 2:15-17. From our reading in Matthew 4 and the other three scriptures we can see the devil working on our flesh, pride, and emotions. We will also learn how testing through suffering is important. This is a hard lesson but one that should be learned and remembered to be a victor in Christ. 53min

John 18:1-14 The time has now come, Jesus is arrested but not before displaying His power and control of the situation. I'm sure His disciples marveled at the size of the crowd and their temperament. One way or another this mob is determined to do away with this man who has consistently said & proven by his actions that HE is the Great "I AM". This story goes all the way back to Genesis 3:15. But now is the time that Jesus has been speaking of throughout his whole ministry. He willingly goes on to drink of the cup which His Father gave Him. and as we will soon see, goes to His first of six trials. ( if you want a handout on the six trials of Jesus please email or call me and I will send you the information ). There is a lesson in all of this concerning doing our own self will versus doing God's will. Prayerfully this sermon will cause you to reflect on this concept. 46min

John 7:40-53 and our 51st Scripture for the year Philippians 2:15-16. And continuing our teaching on Advent, the lighting of the third candle. Today is packed full of biblical lessons for those who are willing to hear. I pray that your heart is ready to receive the gifts of His Word and the season that we are in. Remember the Advent season is all about the five candles: hope, love, joy, peace, and Christ. God has somehow drawn these themes altogether in one sermon. As we continue our study in John chapter 7 the crowds are hearing the message, the Pharisees are bent on killing the Christ. We all have a lesson to learn in that pride always interferes with your ability to reason. Through our witness we are forming characters for eternity. Both our own and others. What a momentous responsibility we carry as Christ believers. Your fingerprints are part of so many peoples character. We either increase or diminish the sum total of human happiness and truth in this current age and in the future. The question is: are you salt and light for Jesus Christ? Are you carrying out the commission that God has given you as a believer in Jesus Christ. 26min
