Romans 3b All have Sinned BUT there is Hope
Pastor Nelson
Romans 3:10-18
Loading the player...
Description
Romans 3:10-20 Paul is telling us, there is no one group of people better than another. We all fall short of what God wants us to be. The blunt truth is, we are ALL sinners. This is a basic truth that we must accept in order to understand why we need a Savior. But praise God, Jesus came so that we might be declared righteous before in all holy God. We can be changed! This is a tough message that a lot of folks don't want to hear, but I must preach the truth of God's word in love to all that will listen. We had a delightful communion this morning, everyone remembering exactly what Jesus Christ has done for them personally since their acceptance of His love and forgiveness. 49min
Romans 3c Being Declared Right thru Faith
Pastor Nelson
Romans 3:19-26
Loading the player...
Description
Romans 3:19-26 When man stands before and all Holy God things will become very clear. Whether we like it or not we have fallen short of what God created us to be because of our sin nature. However, Jesus has provided a way to be declared not guilty, righteous, and a friend of God instead of an enemy. Is it enough to try to keep the laws of God? Quite simply, NO. God's standard is impossible for mankind to obtain. It's like trying to do a broad jump from Australia to California. The "law" simply points out to us how far short we are of being able to keep God's commandments. But there is hope in the fact that Jesus went to the cross to bear our sins so that we might be set free through faith in His free gift of salvation. 49min

EASTER SUNDAY April 12, 2020 Well, it has been a wild month with the corona 19 virus. We are all learning all types of new technology and stress relievers, while being separated. But this Sunday was our first ever 16 people joined together visually and verbally for a grand celebration of Christ's resurrection. Crazy stuff! More to the point, the message for today is centered on Luke chapter 12, and Jesus teaching us about what we really need to know concerning this troubled world that we live in. We are not the only folks who have been put to the test over the years. But we must remember that God's word is "eternally true" and there are better things to come for those who know him as Savior and Lord.. I pray today's message will bless you, and make you think about what is really important in this life. Please remember that Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning in the end, the first and the last AND IN JESUS we will have peace, fulfillment, and happiness forever. 44min

Description
Romans 3:27-4:12 Today's message is actually going to consist of two separate parts. We are going to go over the given text in Romans but then we are going to turn to what is going on in the world today with the coronavirus. The idea of faith in Romans naturally leads us to how God is sovereign, and calling us to be closer to Him by exercising and deepening our faith. I do have a handout that I will be mailing to everybody on the subject. It was great seeing you all on our live videoconferencing call for the sermon this morning. The interaction that we can have by hearing and seeing each other I think is better than me just putting a sermon on line for you. Don't forget to keep in touch with each other by phone during the week. And thank you for the great job you do in taking care of each other. 43min
Romans 4a Abraham's Simple Faith
Pastor Nelson
Romans 4:13-25
Loading the player...
Description
Romans 4:13-25 Todaytoday's lesson has to do with simple believing faith. Abraham was declared righteous because he believed God and based his life on the rock solid belief that God could do what He promised. Today, we need to learned some lessons from Romans and Genesis concerning these principles. It is really quite simple. Can "your God" deliver on what he has promised you? What are you basing your life upon? Your own efforts, or God's promises? Prayerfully, this message will help you examine a little more deeply about your faith compared to the faith of Abraham. God loves you, and wants to bless you, the question is, will you believe Him and trust Him to deliver on His promises. It isn't complicated, ( leading into next week's sermon ) FAITH is taking seriously what God has "obligated Himself" to do! Are you willing to look to God, obey God, and wait for God to keep his word. 49min
Romans 5a God's Control & Ownership

Description
Romans Chapter 5 I can't believe somehow this sermon got dropped off the list. NO ONE TOLD ME!!! So sorry about that. So as we add it 2 weeks late, I pray that some of you may go back and listen to it as chapter 5 had some important concepts presented. Primarily "faith is taking seriously what God has obligated Himself to do". Have you ever stopped to think that God's purpose is to re-create in you the image of His Son and His Glory! That's kind of a mind blower isn't it. But this will not come without our testing and suffering. Above all else, we must remember that God is in total control. And when we are reconciled to God is only through what His Son has done for us. So, with all the garbage that's going on here on earth, you have a choice of which kingdom you want to live in. Do you choose to live in the kingdom of grace or in the kingdom of sin? 48min
Romans 6a Who is Your Master
Pastor Nelson
Romans 6:1-23

Description
Romans 6:1-23 Today were going to talk about a neglected subject in the modern day church. We are going to talk about which master do you serve. You see as it says in verse 16 everyone is a slave to someone or something! As we address the concept of "have we died in our relationship to sin" - we all have a choice to make. Or to put it another way, has your old man been crucified on the cross with Christ? You see death is the currency and payoff of the sin kingdom. Whereas, the payoff for being subject to Jesus Christ and crucified with Him means we will have eternal life and God's blessing. But why do we have to be crucified? Because there is only one way to get rid of our inborn nature of sin. And that is to kill that old nature, and allow Christ to raise us up regenerated in Him. Pretty serious stuff today, but an area we should not ignore. 42min
Romans 7 SIN- Why Do We Do It

Description
Romans 7 The SIN subject - none of us like to talk about this very much. But we started last week in chapter 6 on this subject area & it is crucial to the believer in understanding what Christ has done for us. As I think about what was presented today, I probably should have done this chapter in two sermons. But it is what it is. AND you need to know that chapter 7 and 8 go together as one. In chapter 7 Paul compares our bond with sin like a marriage. But we can be freed to have a new better life in Christ as the sin in us was supposed to be put to death on the cross. Rememer? It is important that you have my hand out as you study this chapter. (if anyone needs a copy of this it is totally free, just let me know you have need of it). Something we must all remember is that Paul struggled with them just like we do. I wish we had had more time and I could've gone into that in more depth. But as you study the last part of Romans seven listen to Paul's heart and struggle. We all can relate! 47min

Description
Romans 8:1-17 I sincerely apologize for not turning on the microphone at the beginning of the service. We had a prayer and a little reflection on Memorial Day and what it means. I also went to John chapter 5 verses 24-30 to talk about Jesus soon return and judgment. I then remembered to turn on the recorder as we were going to Romans chapter 8. I love this chapter because Paul makes it so clear that the law cannot save, it only pronounces the sentence. Today we talked a lot about the Holy Spirit and what he does in our lives and the fact that there is a constant war going on in our minds and bodies. But please remember you are more than conquerors. You are the sons and daughters of the living God. You are the ones that Jesus died and rose again for, and one day you will share in God's glory Romans 8:18. The entire universe is looking forward to the conclusion of God's plan! 41min

Romans 8:18-25 My study for this week took me to so many different places in the Scriptures. The handout is four pages long, but as you will note in the sermon I never got past the first page. Being in the middle of this COBIT 19 pandemic, it has been a very interesting experience. I have been seeing the magnification of evil plans and evil people beyond my wildest dreams. BUT at the same time I am seeing so many prophecies fulfilled, and God's love poured out in so many ways that it is just extremely exciting to see how much God loves each of us! As Christ's return draws nearer I pray you are drawing nearer to Christ. His promises of what is to come is worth whatever we must go through. Be encouraged and keep looking up. 47min

Description
Romans 8:26-30 In today's lesson were going to hit a couple of key points that are vital to every Christian's walk with the Lord. First of all we need to learn to be patient as some things are happening that we don't like or appreciate. Today we went over the apostles Creed and had communion before I started the recorder. By now you should understand that the Holy Spirit helps us pray when we don't know how. But there are other key things to know about prayer. Romans 8:28 should read we know, that in all things God works for the good, of those who love Him. We must remember that God is not working to make us happy, but to fulfill his purpose. In our discussion of Romans 8:29-30 we talked about what is predestination and election?. 43min

Romans 9:1-9 Oh Boy! Last week we had technical problems with the MP3 recorder! Like the guy running it (ME) forgot to turn it on.! I'm so sorry! You really did miss out on some good teaching, and encouragement, in God's Word. But I will try to hit some of the high points briefly again today. "Like it all working together" , and "who can be against you as God's chosen child". So anyway, what happened this week? As you will note in the recording, once again I went "brain-dead" and you missed the first five minutes because I forgot to turn on the recorder again. Boy oh boy, what is happening here? SO to the main point. I mailed out the five page handout this morning of what I wanted to cover in Romans chapter 9:1-24. We barely got through page 1 &2, the first nine verses. As I said in my email, this is "tough meat" from God's Word, so don't be discouraged just pray about it and continue to study! Do you really understand "predestination" and God's call on your life? PLEASE if you have questions about this subject matter CALL ME!! Hopefully the handout will explain some of what I tried to get across this morning. AND the Holy Spirit will help you sort this out, but this has been an area of fierce debate among theologians for years. Paul approached it head-on, and so am I, I pray today's sermon will be not only be enlightening but challenging. We will have more to say about this subject next week. 51min

Description
Romans 9:10-24 God's sovereignty cannot be argued with, and we will never totally understand it until we are with Him face-to-face. Continuing on in our effort to understand "our call", and God's choice, and election; today we will talk about Jacob and Esau & why God hardened Pharaoh's heart. No one can demand that God explain why He has done what He has chosen to do concerning people or even nations. It is impossible for finite beings to totally understand an infinite God and how He works. So we must go back to Romans 8:28 "we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him." Does the clay have the right to tell the Potter what He should make, or how He should make it? We must remember from Bible history (and then present times) God is always doing three things: A. Showing His wrath on the unjust B. Making known His unlimited power and knowledge C. Making His glory, mercy, love, and justice known to the entire world. 48min

Today we will be finishing up Romans chapter 9 & looking at some other key Scriptures that every Christian should know, or at the least written down.. A lot of people call this "The Romans Road". If you mark your Bible with what verses come next you can always start in John chapter 3 and explain for someone the need to be saved & lead them through the process. Today's message is a little bit longer because I included some extra things for our folks that were live online. Please have your pen and pencil handy & I pray that each one of you will be able to share these verses with someone one day and see what the Holy Spirit can do through the power of the Word explained to a non-Christian.. 60min
Romans 10b Listening But Not Hearing

Romans 10:14-21

Description
Romans 10:14-21 Today's lesson revolves around a couple of key points. 1. God wants all of us to be bearers of the good news. He also thinks highly of those who testify to His loving plan for mankind. 2. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. So as we examined these verses it struck me that the Pharisees listened but did not actually hear or comprehend what Jesus was telling them. Today we can be the same way, we listen the words but we don't actually hear what is being said to us. God's voice is all around us, but are we actually hearing what he is telling us? We must all remember that being faithful to Jesus and learning what the Bible actually is saying to us is a matter of choice. Those who truly hear and believe are blessed, others not so much. 43min

Description
Romans 11:1-6 As we start our journey into Chapter 11, Paul is trying to explain to both the Jews and the Gentiles about who God is, and what He has done concerning both the Jews and the Gentiles. The "remnant" is saved by grace and faith; it is not about works, and it is very personal! Is there anyone deserving of heaven? Absolutely not! Ephesians 2:1-10. But if we are to come into a relationship with our God; just who is He anyway? So we turn to Isaiah chapter 40 through 48 to discover what God has to say about Himself! I guess we'll have to do more on Romans 11 next week. I just felt like you needed to know what the prophet Isaiah recorded in about 750 BC about the nature and character of God. After all, how can we serve Him if we don't know Him? 47min

Romans 11:7-36 In this lesson we will learn who are all the "true branches" and what root we belong to. In the beginning of this lesson we find God has given a stupor to the Jews for the benefit of the Gentiles. HE has provided for "the time of the Gentiles". The bottom line is - who is a true Jew, and who is included in the term "all Israel"? We must consider the goodness and the severity of God!! What does it mean when in verse 29 it says for the gifts and the calling of God are revocable? Today's lesson would be impossible without some background from the Old Testament, and yet when we combine the OT and the NT together we get a much clearer picture of God's great plan! I pray this message will give you a better understanding of who you are in Christ Jesus. 52min

Romans 12:1-2 Only two short versus! But oh so much to say in so few words! The question is, do you understand the sacrifice that God requires of you? What does it mean to be a living sacrifice? The handout is so much different than the sermon, but you really need both to understand the subject matter we are going to cover today. We did include most of our communion together today on the disk, that is the reason for the length. I pray this subject will challenge you in your relationship with Jesus Christ. It is a learning process for all of us, but it starts with a renewing of your mind. Of course commitment and determination are involved in becoming all that you can be in Jesus. But, the price paid will be well worth it! Please understand the only thing that God has ever been after is our heart and a loving relationship with Him. 54min

Romans 12:3-13 Whatever we have in the way of natural abilities or spiritual gifts - all should be used with humility for the building up of the body of Christ. A healthy is important. However, neither the puffed up, nor the deflated, are free to serve God. In today's lesson we will be talking about one body with many parts. 1 Corinthians 12:27 says "all of you together are Christ's body, and each of you is a part of it." God's gifts differ in nature, power, and effectiveness according to his wisdom and graciousness. God's gifts fulfiller value as they are utilized for the benefit of others. Spiritual gifts will be worthless if they are used in a prideful way, or begrudgingly out of duty, or if they are exercised without love. We are to hate what is evil; and cling to what is good. 45min

Romans 12:14-21 AND 1 Kings 22:1-28 Praise God, HE does not lie and knows the beginning from the end! I praise Jesus for the fact that in His Word we have examples and stories to learn from and follow. As we finish the last part of chapter 12 of Romans we must learn not to curse our enemies but to pray for them. ( if you didn't get the handout please call for one ) I believe that today's lesson in the Old Testament the King of Israel, Ahab, is so appropriate for today. GOD WILL accomplish his purposes! Please read for yourself 1 Kings 22:1-28 and 2 Chronicles 18:18-34. God allowed a lying spirit to go out into the world to accomplish His purpose. You all know that God cannot lie, but He can use demonic forces to bring about His judgment. I believe that is what God is doing today! This is very prophetic and indicates the times in which we live. 49min

Description
Romans 13:1-7 My dear people, I'm so sorry, but was so busy after church last week I forgot to post my sermon. This sermon has raised some questions and challenged people for sure. What should you do when the government is doing evil things? Or what do you do when the government is making you do things you rather not do. The Bible is pretty clear on this, because that was exactly what was happening to the first century Christians we are reading about in the New Testament (but this has occurred throughout man's history). Because of the discussions after the service last week, in the upcoming service I will try to give a few more pointers on what we Christ followers should keep in mind as we endure this life. Paul was trying to explain how we should live within the government structure in which we find ourselves. We must be careful in our relationships with the governing authorities good or bad). Because, it is only then we will be able to share the gospel to help transform society! God's intention of how our rulers and authorities should act is very plain. The people in charge of the population will one day be absolutely accountable to King Jesus for every word and ruling they ever spoke or carried out. And we must remember above all things that God allows governments and government leaders as HE wishes, and only God knows HIS plans for the future! I have a 4 page written handout on this sermon today, and it may be an even a better explanation than my oral sermon presentation. Pleas Call for it if you don't have it!! 60min

As we proceed in talking about loving your neighbor, you'll find God's prescription to human wholeness involves us practicing the same kind of love he has shown toward us. It may be difficult for us to do, but we can learn if we place God's principles in our lives and practice daily. this sermon revolves around Mark 12:29-31 and Matthew 22:37-39. Romans 14:1-13 This is a very interesting chapter. Paul is addressing primarily the Jews and the Gentiles because they were fussing about what rules they should live under after accepting Christ. It seems we sometimes get caught up in the same things as they did, endless doctrinal arguments that have nothing to do with the person salvation! Man's traditions versus God's law principles. Paul is stressing the basic principles of love and brotherhood and how we all serve the same Master. And by the way we will all give an accounting before the judgment seat of Christ on what we did with our lives and how we lived as His representatives. Because the Holy Spirit should quicken our conscience of what we should do "and eat or not eat" we may end up in different places. I am praying that this sermon will cause you to examine yourself and how you react to other brothers and sisters who may be in a different place from you on certain practices. 49min
