Matthew 7c Really Knowing God
Pastor Nelson
Matthew 7:15-29
Loading the player...
Description
Matthew 7:15-29 It is a hard lesson today. These words that Jesus spoke will challenge many, but are necessary for understanding the whole truth of the Bible and God's commands. The first time I read these words and pondered the lessons I too was set back. So prepare yourself for the "meat" of God's Word given in truth and love. What does it take to really know God? And what must we do to prove that we really are a Christ follower? I have included some helps to guide you along your way; but in verse 7:23 the rubber is really going to meet the road. I pray that this lesson will impact you mightily, so that you may share with others the whole counsel of God. 59min
Matthew 7b Seeking and Knowing
Pastor Nelson
Matthew 7:7-14

Description
Matthew 7:7-14 and celebrating communion together first. As Jesus teaches about seeking, asking, and knocking, we learn knowing God takes faith, focus, and follow through. We also need to understand that as we pray the right door will be opened, not necessarily just the one we want. God, as our heavenly Father can give us such good gifts, when we know how to approach His throne with the proper attitude. In this lesson we also talk about God's fairness and judgment. Matthew 7:12 points us toward the Golden Rule and what it really means. As Jesus is teaching us about "the way to heaven" we see the same issue addressed in the Old Testament. There are two roads and two gates that determine our eternal future. Which gate will you go through? 59min
Matthew 7a Judging, Discerning, Discrimination
Pastor Nelson
Matthew 7:1-6
Loading the player...
Description
Matthew 7:1-6 Today's lesson may be out of sync with the world. But, that is okay because as a Christian, God's way of doing things are out of the way of this world. Are you a judgmental person? Do you find faults in others? Do you like to correct people? Well, there is going to be some things to consider today. Did you know it's okay to be discriminatory? But there is a right and wrong way to do it. The current world mode is that we cannot judge or discriminate. But that is contrary to what Scripture says. I left the recorder on after the sermon so that you could hear the comments of the people concerning this lesson. Interesting. 55min
Matthew 6d Don't Worry!
Pastor Nelson
Matthew 6:25-34

Description
Matthew 6:25-34 You may not know it, but the most repeated phrase in Scripture is, "do not be afraid." We should not worry, because worry negatively affects us and is rooted in our lack of trust in God. This may be hard for some people, but worry is a sin. It denies the wisdom and promises of God. F E A R stands for false evidence appearing real. God is intricately involved in every aspect of His creation. In this lesson we will outline ways to overcome fear and worry so that we may live a better life in God's peace. 45min
Matthew 6c Jesus teaches Lessons for Life

Matthew 6:16-24

Description
Matthew 6:16-24 In today's lesson Jesus is teaching the third of his three needed life activities for his followers. In the past two teachings Jesus said his followers would learn how to GIVE, and PRAY, and now He is going to talk about FASTING. But Jesus goes on to speak about not laying up for ourselves treasures on earth. We live in a world of materialism and greed, so what does Jesus have to say about money and our earthly possessions. We must ask the question who is our master. 49min

Description
Matthew 6:5-15 Most everyone has learned and repeated the "Lords Prayer". But, there's way more to praying than that. So the question is how then should we pray? In this lesson I will attempt to give you some pointers and some cautions, as well as the acronym ACTS which will help you pray better privately and in public. I had written out references to 24 different Scripture verses in this message, but I couldn't get to all of them. If you want a written copy of this message so you can see all of them please contact me. However as usual, the spoken message didn't necessarily follow what I had written out. I pray this message blesses you. 45min
Matthew 6a Principles of Christian Giving

Matthew 6:1-4

Description
Matthew 6:1-4 In today's lesson we will be discussing a vital but sensitive topic. We will be talking about your finances and your time. While these are very personal are giving is rooted in 1) the nature of God 2) our individual relationship with Him. There are three inescapable truths that as Christ followers we need to remember. A) we belong to God B) we have received much C) my time and my money really does matter to God. There will be a lot of Scriptures in the sermon in that 15% of everything Christ ever said related to the topic of money and possessions (more than his teachings on heaven and hell combined). I pray this message will bless you, and challenge you at the same time; and you will consider the kingdom principles presented today. 48min
Matthew 5g Vows, Relaliation, & Love
Pastor Nelson
Matthew 5:33-48

Description
Matthew 5:33-48 In todays lesson we are going to learn from Jesus what is really behind the words of the Old Testiment. Seeing as God judges all by our words and thoughts, Jesus is going to address some more of our attutides (just like last week). Some of us need to reflect on what is in these verses, others not so much. But we all have room to grow. I'm sure that the people in Jesus day were shocked at what He had to say. Seeing as we, as followers of Jesus, represent God, we are held to a different standard than the world. Our intrgrity, and attitudes, and love must prove us different from the world. This can only be done through the power of the Holy Spirit that is given to every believer at the time of salvation. 57min

Description
Matthew 5:21-32 As you may have already discovered there was no sermon posted last Sunday because I was in the hospital. I thank you for your prayers and concerns, but all things are in God's hands and in his timing. I am so happy to be able to continue on in our study of Matthew chapter 5. There are some really important lessons today that Jesus personally spoke to in the time of the apostles but also is speaking to our hearts today. Anger, lust, and divorce is out of control. We have simply forgotten and refused to obey the commands of God that were laid down so many years ago. I have so much more to say about these topics but as time restrains, I pray the Holy Spirit will use what is said here to prompt your spirit to hear the personal message that God is speaking to you today. I love you all so much, but we are drying so close to the time of the rapture there is little time to not seek God's truth, and start living the way demands that we live as followers of Christ. Love your neighbor as yourself, seek the best for others, learn to forget and trust God for His direction in your life. 50min

Description
Happy New Year!! As you may have noticed we are not going to be in Matthew today. We will be quoting many scriptures, but today's lesson is primarily to prepare you for what's coming in 2021. As you follow along today you may want to have pen and paper in hand to write down some of the Scripture verses. I turned on the recorder early so that you could hear our little communion service. As you get into the sermon you will note references to a number of prophecies that are being fulfilled before our very eyes. And talk about the coming rapture of believers before the tribulation period. I pray this message will encourage and challenge you. It is a new year and I'm sure God is going to be doing many exciting things this year. Keep your faith strong, stay in the Word of God, and seek to do His will. 70min

Mathew 5:17-20 What a good topic for going into 2021. How then shall we live? As we study the Bible there are many excellent pointers as to how Christians can learn to more than just survive. In this lesson I will have five points: God is not finished with you yet, God is always working, Crisis is God's tool, Jesus is the foundation, and Count it all joy. Under each of these topics multiple scriptures will be given to help you understand what God's will is for your life and growth. It wouldn't hurt to have pencil and paper ready. 55min

Description
Matthew 5:13-16 I am so sorry that we had a technical malfunction and the first third of the sermon was not recorded. However, in these three verses we learn that your Christian character consciously or unconsciously affects other people for better or for the worse. Through our witness we are forming characters for eternity. Both our own and others. What a momentous responsibility we carry as Christ believers. Your fingerprints are part of so many peoples character. We either increase or diminish the sum total of human happiness and truth in this current age and in the future. The question is: are you salt and light for Jesus Christ? Are you carrying out the commission that God has given you as a believer in Jesus Christ. 26min

Matthew 5:1-12 For me the next several Sundays are going to be exciting to review with you. Because Jesus is laying out very clearly what the kingdom of God is all about, and how we should conduct ourselves. The people at heard these blessed words were a lot like us. They had trials and frustrations that have always been common to man. So if we listen to Jesus's words and realize this is what God would like us to learn and follow it will be a very profitable time for all of us. In this first short section there are promises that we need to understand and hang onto. I pray you will write down some notes as the Holy Spirit brings some precious thoughts into your mind. 45min

Description
Matthew 4:12-25 As Jesus begins his Galilean ministry he is also fulfilling an Old Testament prophecy from Isaiah. Isaiah 9:16 applies even to us today "the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and upon those who sat in the region and the shadow of death, light has dawned". As Jesus is gathering his team; the inner circle of three, the 12 disciples, the 70, and his followers - are you on His team? I love it that he took ordinary people just like you and me to change the world. Notice the emphasis on teaching, preaching, and healing. Jesus and his disciples of today are still spreading the good news of God's love and light into the world. 43min

Description
Matthew 4:1-11 Today's lesson is concerning the subject that we all know about but rarely study - "Temptation". We all need to have an understanding of how Satan is working in the world and in our lives every day. Jesus temptation in the wilderness is an excellent study in that Jesus proved his humanity, proved his faithfulness, provided a role model, and fulfilled prophecy. First we go to Genesis 3:1-6 to see how Satan works every time. Next we turn to Isaiah 14:12-17 and then to 1John 2:15-17. From our reading in Matthew 4 and the other three scriptures we can see the devil working on our flesh, pride, and emotions. We will also learn how testing through suffering is important. This is a hard lesson but one that should be learned and remembered to be a victor in Christ. 53min

Matthew 1:18-2:15 I'm sorry I got this loaded late. As we continue the introduction to Matthew I'm praying that this sermon will be uplifting in the middle of what this nation is facing right now. It's all in God's hands. We have to have confidence, faith, and patience to see God's plan unfolding before our eyes. The Messiah had been promised for centuries, and finally He is revealed! As we lightly touch on the birth of The Christ we are going to hit on some important issues that you need to consider. I have included some of the prophecies concerning Jesus' birth, and nine special events not mentioned in any of the other Gospels. (By the way I have a 7 page handout on this message.) Can we follow the example of the Magi - they entered, they bowed, they gave, they worship, and they obeyed. Christian, are you in the battle .... or are you sitting on the sidelines. We are living in exciting times! I pray this lesson will stir your mind and heart. 51min

Matthew 1:1-17 In today's lesson we are going to take a look at how the Bible is an extraterrestrial message from outside of our space time domain. It may be hard to comprehend but every word, letter, and detail has been placed in our Bible for a specific reason. This can be proved mathematically, and by meanings hidden within the text. I praise God for those who have spent lifetimes going deep into not only the meaning of the Bible but the details of how it has been put together with such precision. I pray this lesson will give you a new appreciation for the written word of God. 47min

Many scriptures are going to be covered today. But our primary teaching will be taken from James chapter 1, Philippians chapters 3 and 4, and Hebrews chapters 10 and 12. As the times we live in are becoming more tumultuous and stressful we need to understand that God wants His children to live in peace. So how do we stand strong in the times when everything around us is falling apart? There are specific guidelines that we will address today from God's Word. I pray that this message will encourage you to stand strong even when you feel like everything is falling apart. Be ready with your pencil and paper, because there are quite a few other scriptures that play into today's lesson that you may want to jot down and memorize. 59min

Today's lesson is a summary of some of the things we have already learned in Romans. I know for a fact, if you are like me,, it is hard to remember the sermons that have been long past. Maybe, there is a pointer or two that you do remember, but there is one big overpowering concept that needs to be recalled at this point in time. It has to do with God's GRACE and what we understand about it, and what we do with it. Prayerfully today the lesson will help you to reflect personally on how God's grace has impacted your life. We all need to have gratitude, and amazement about how God loves us. Just maybe, this teaching today, will help you reflect on God's love for YOU! 53min

Romans 16:1-27 In our lesson today, we will be reminiscing with Paul and each of us thinking back about meaningful Christians who have influenced our lives. Today's lesson is one of those times when we need to thank God for the Christian saints in each of our Christian lives. Because without them you wouldn't be where you are today. We each have had so many blessings by the influence of other people in our lives and therefore we are much like Paul. I am so sorry that I forgot to turn on the audio recorder during the first 20 minutes of the sermon. But I do have a rather detailed four page handout explaining who many of these people are that Paul was remembering. If you do not have the handout please call or email me it is rather detailed and contains much of the sermon content. I'm so sorry for missing the first part of the sermon on the recorder. 23min

Romans 15:1-13 1Thess 5:1-24 In discussing today's lesson, we must keep in mind not only what the early church was going through at the time this was written, but what we are currently going through today. It is vital that the church be united in thought word and deed. As we celebrate communion together, we share something in common with Christians worldwide. Looking at Psalm 34 we are united with our brothers and sisters around the globe. I hope you have the handout for today's lesson, if you don't email me and I will send you a copy. In 1Corinthians 9:19-22 Paul became all things to all men that some might be saved. And today you will see the importance of having unity in the body of Christ, not only because of the things that we are facing, but because Jesus is returning soon. 53min

So many wonderful prayers, godly ministries testifying, great music, and time for "getting right" before God. I had planned on doing these readings from Isaiah 2 weeks ago, but somehow God knew it would fit perfectly today. These readings from Isaiah are self-explanatory, and I pray the Holy Spirit will bless you through His Word. 60min

Romans 14:13-23 & Isaiah Welcome back after our break from last Sunday. It was really great to be in the mountains all alone with my bride and no Internet, cell phone, TV, and only a couple of radio stations for several days. We were surprised by 14 inches of snow, but it made it even more cozy, after getting stuck a couple of times. Everyone needs to take time to meditate on the Word of God and pray. I hope you occasionally do that too. As we finish up Romans chapter 14 today there are some good lessons that need to be applied. And next week I'm going to continue on in some readings I did in Isaiah on God's character while on the mountain. I pray you will enjoy and learn from these two lessons. 46min

Description
Romans 14:1-13 This is a very interesting chapter. Paul is addressing primarily the Jews and the Gentiles because they were fussing about what rules they should live under after accepting Christ. It seems we sometimes get caught up in the same things as they did, endless doctrinal arguments that have nothing to do with the person salvation! Man's traditions versus God's law principles. Paul is stressing the basic principles of love and brotherhood and how we all serve the same Master. And by the way we will all give an accounting before the judgment seat of Christ on what we did with our lives and how we lived as His representatives. Because the Holy Spirit should quicken our conscience of what we should do "and eat or not eat" we may end up in different places. I am praying that this sermon will cause you to examine yourself and how you react to other brothers and sisters who may be in a different place from you on certain practices. 49min

Be sure and read last week's handout to go along with this message and also read this week's handout. As we proceed in talking about loving your neighbor, you'll find God's prescription to human wholeness involves us practicing the same kind of love he has shown toward us. It may be difficult for us to do, but we can learn if we place God's principles in our lives and practice daily. this sermon revolves around Mark 12:29-31 and Matthew 22:37-39. Description
Romans 13:1-7 My dear people, I'm so sorry, but was so busy after church last week I forgot to post my sermon. This sermon has raised some questions and challenged people for sure. What should you do when the government is doing evil things? Or what do you do when the government is making you do things you rather not do. The Bible is pretty clear on this, because that was exactly what was happening to the first century Christians we are reading about in the New Testament (but this has occurred throughout man's history). Because of the discussions after the service last week, in the upcoming service I will try to give a few more pointers on what we Christ followers should keep in mind as we endure this life. Paul was trying to explain how we should live within the government structure in which we find ourselves. We must be careful in our relationships with the governing authorities good or bad). Because, it is only then we will be able to share the gospel to help transform society! God's intention of how our rulers and authorities should act is very plain. The people in charge of the population will one day be absolutely accountable to King Jesus for every word and ruling they ever spoke or carried out. And we must remember above all things that God allows governments and government leaders as HE wishes, and only God knows HIS plans for the future! I have a 4 page written handout on this sermon today, and it may be an even a better explanation than my oral sermon presentation. Pleas Call for it if you don't have it!! 60min

Romans 12:14-21 AND 1 Kings 22:1-28 Praise God, HE does not lie and knows the beginning from the end! I praise Jesus for the fact that in His Word we have examples and stories to learn from and follow. As we finish the last part of chapter 12 of Romans we must learn not to curse our enemies but to pray for them. ( if you didn't get the handout please call for one ) I believe that today's lesson in the Old Testament the King of Israel, Ahab, is so appropriate for today. GOD WILL accomplish his purposes! Please read for yourself 1 Kings 22:1-28 and 2 Chronicles 18:18-34. God allowed a lying spirit to go out into the world to accomplish His purpose. You all know that God cannot lie, but He can use demonic forces to bring about His judgment. I believe that is what God is doing today! This is very prophetic and indicates the times in which we live. 49min

Romans 12:3-13 Whatever we have in the way of natural abilities or spiritual gifts - all should be used with humility for the building up of the body of Christ. A healthy is important. However, neither the puffed up, nor the deflated, are free to serve God. In today's lesson we will be talking about one body with many parts. 1 Corinthians 12:27 says "all of you together are Christ's body, and each of you is a part of it." God's gifts differ in nature, power, and effectiveness according to his wisdom and graciousness. God's gifts fulfiller value as they are utilized for the benefit of others. Spiritual gifts will be worthless if they are used in a prideful way, or begrudgingly out of duty, or if they are exercised without love. We are to hate what is evil; and cling to what is good. 45min
